John A. Logan would probably have agreed with author Mark Yost when he said: “History, while sometimes made up of a few acts of the great is more often shaped by the many acts of the small.”
Logan knew that his Army was made up of thousands of men and that his success as a General depended upon these men doing their best to carry out his orders. If they failed to do their part, the battle, no matter how brilliant the General who planned it, would be lost.
